STORY Behind THIS RECIPE...

STORY Behind THIS RECIPE...

Tracing back to ancient Rome where spicy boiled eggs began meals, the dish evolved through medieval Europe before 18th-century Britons coined the term “deviled” to describe spicy, zesty foods—a nod to the heat of hell. However, the iconic creamy version we eat today became an American staple only after mayonnaise became commercially available in the 1940s.
